Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt’s work influenced the art nouveau movement, and his painting The Kiss was the high point of his ‘Golden Period’. Klimt was inspired by Japanese art and the female form, and his art was the subject of controversy, especially when he completed the ceiling in the Great Hall of the University of Vienna. He remains one of the best-loved artists from the Art Nouveau period.
