Collection: Jane Austen

Jane Austen, one of the world's most famous authors, spent most of her life in Hampshire and its houses, countryside and people inspired many of her novels.

Our Jane Austen Collection is inspired by an oak leaf motif from a pelisse coat thought to have belonged to Jane Austen. Oak leaves were a popular national symbol at the time.

Hampshire Cultural Trust cares for Jane Austen artefacts owned by Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council.
